Weldex team at the conference

The Weldex team – the largest in Russia in terms of the number of participants and visitors of the International Exhibition of Welding Materials, Equipment and Technologies – told industry representatives about the role of professional competitions and championships in training effective personnel.

"Without a doubt, any person who becomes a champion at the national level has certain characteristics that make him more successful in his future career. In 2011, leading universities around the world conducted a study to study the characteristics of champions of professional competitions. And it showed that winners have not only higher individual qualities, but also motivation, what universities and employers need to focus on teamwork, on positivity, on problem solving. These characteristics are common to champions and to people who succeed in life ," Anna Yaroslavina emphasized.

Every year, the Weldex platform hosts Championships and competitions of professional competencies. They are designed to raise the prestige of blue-collar jobs and encourage market specialists. In any professional competition, in addition to the competitive part, there is an important meaning - this is an assessment of the level of development of the participants' skills. In this capacity, the competition traditionally serves as a tool and a universal mechanism that allows identifying the best.

"As part of the Weldex exhibition, since 2020 we have been holding the Women in Welding competition, which helps to identify and reward women professionals who have achieved amazing results in the areas of development and implementation of advanced technologies, equipment and materials for the welding market. Such initiatives play a huge role in increasing the importance of engineering professions and, in particular, the prestige of professions in the welding industry among women ," added Anna Yaroslavina.

In their presentation, the exhibition team also spoke about the value of holding the competition "Best Implemented Innovative Project in Welding" and the National Welding Championship "Weldex Russian Welding Cup" for participants from Russia, the EAEU, the CIS and others: "The participation of professionals and students in the championship on one site creates unique conditions for the transfer of experience, demonstration of skills and initiation into the profession."

In the long term, such events also serve as one of the most effective measures to ensure Russia’s human and technological sovereignty.
