The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) has identified five key areas:

 

  • Artificial intelligence and autonomy: robots themselves analyze data, learn and make decisions.

     

  • Convergence of IT and OT: Thanks to this, robots are able to exchange data in real time with other systems in the factory, which makes production more flexible.

     

  • Humanoid robots: their reliability and efficiency are increased, and their cost, on the contrary, is reduced, which helps to massively introduce such robots into production.

     

  • Solving the Workforce Challenge: Global Automation as a Response to the Skills Shortage.

     

  • Security and cyber protection.

State support


The state has high hopes for the robotization of production, so it is taking a number of measures to accelerate it:

 

  • Direct subsidies: reimburse up to 70-90% of R&D costs and compensate for discounts to buyers to reduce prices.

     

  • Subsidies to customers: compensate 20% of the cost of purchasing and implementing robots, as well as provide the possibility of preferential loans for the purchase of robots.

     

  • Tax benefits: reduce income tax at a rate of 3% (instead of 25%), as well as introduce preferential rates for insurance premiums by analogy with the IT industry and benefits in the SEZ.


There is also a task to create about 30 Regional Centers for the Development of Robotics, which will be engaged in the development of solutions, technological audit of enterprises and personnel training. In 2026, the Federal Competence Center plans to help 300 Russian companies with robotization.

Challenges for Russian industrial robotics

 

  • Cost and payback: the average payback period is from 2.5 to 6 years, and the high key rate makes purchase loans very expensive.

     

  • Low efficiency: according to experts, up to 40% of robotization projects do not give the expected effect due to the lack of a systematic approach.

     

  • Personnel shortage: 43% of companies lack automation engineers, 41% lack designers.


Development trends


The Russian market of industrial robots is at the start of a long journey, and the main trends here remain large-scale state support, active import substitution and the introduction of new flexible models, such as, for example, robot rental.

 

If state support measures are maintained, by 2030 the growth rate may accelerate from 14% to 38% per year: the market will grow to 47.6 billion rubles, and the robot fleet to 104,000 units.
