Digest #8: Current News In The Welding Industry

Mashprom installed a new laser machine at NTMZ
A high-power LM6020H laser cutting machine with a capacity of 20 kW has been put into operation at the production site of the Nizhny Tagil Machine-Building Plant (PC NTMZ). The equipment is equipped with working and replaceable tables measuring 6x2 m, which allows processing a wide range of materials: from ferrous and non-ferrous metals to wear-resistant and stainless steels. The new machine demonstrates high processing speed and accuracy, contributing to increased production efficiency. The equipment is being modernized as part of the Labor Productivity project, aimed at technological renewal and increasing the competitiveness of domestic mechanical engineering.

NITI Progress has developed a machine vision system for welding
The Progress Research Institute (part of Rostec) presented a machine vision system for electron beam welding, providing high-precision monitoring of the process in real time. The system includes a magnetic optics unit with an update rate of 200 frames per second and a secondary electron sensor that forms an image of the weld. The uniqueness of the technology lies in the ability to quickly change modes - from welding current to scanning and back, which allows the operator to continuously monitor the process. The development improves the accuracy of work, reduces production losses and can be used in the aviation, nuclear and space industries. In the future, it is planned to implement automatic welding monitoring based on a video stream.

Industrial robot production to be localized in Moscow region
On the sidelines of the SPIEF-2025, the Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyov announced plans to localize the production of robotics. Leading companies are entering the region, including Komitas, Valdai Robots, and SMT. Komitas is already building a plant in the Stupino Kvadrat SEZ and produces logistics robots for large retailers. SMT, the official representative of the Chinese CRP, has launched production in Odintsovo and plans to move to the Titan Industrial Park. Valdai Robots offers domestic solutions based on AI and develops innovative robots for logistics and industry. The region is actively developing industrial parks and providing support to new production facilities, forming a robotics cluster with an eye on import substitution.

In Kirov, the level of localization of metalworking machines has reached 80%
At the Innoprom-2025 exhibition, the Governor of the Kirov Region, Alexander Sokolov, reported that regional enterprises have reached the localization level of metalworking machines up to 80%. The Lepse and Omutninsky Metallurgical Plant enterprises, which produce linear guides — the most important elements of machines, are involved in the development. The machine tool cluster continues to develop with the participation of the regional industrial fund and specialized universities. The Kirov Region also cooperates with the Stankin University to improve the qualifications of personnel. The task is to create a fully localized machine, including the three remaining unmastered elements.

Innovative machine for the aviation industry presented in Moscow
The company "Lasers and Equipment" presented a unique five-axis machine for hybrid processing of aircraft components at the exhibition "Metalloobrabotka-2025". The equipment combines an electrical discharge superdrill and a laser source, and is capable of processing complex-shaped parts, including engine blades with thousands of perforations. The machine is equipped with machine vision and an automatic position correction system, which increases the accuracy of processing. The device is already used in the production of aircraft engines. The innovation is the result of systemic support for the industry in Moscow, where more than 4.5 thousand enterprises operate. The implementation of such solutions strengthens the technological sovereignty of the country and contributes to the modernization of high-tech industries.
